Turvos Seek Citizenship After Passport Dispute in Boston

Mr and Mrs Andrew Turvo of Mindem Road Ard planned a Finland visit to see their parents when federal judge Elisha water in Boston halted travel after discovering Turvo was not an American citizen and Mrs Turvo had lost citizen papers. Turvo, born in Finland in 1906, was registered as a citizen by his mother. he and his wife intend to apply for citizenship papers at once.

Last Rites For Maynard Woman Thursday

Mrs Hattie Fiske 73 died Monday night at her daughter’s home in Maynard. She was born in Montpelier Vermont September 20 1879 and lived in Lowell and Acton before moving to Maynard in 1901. Survived by daughter Mrs Mildred Promner George Wals of Waban and three grandchildren. Funeral Thursday at 3 pm at the home of her daughter with Rev Matthew A Vance officiating. Burial in Imienwood Cemetery.

Kate Sawyer widow of Thomas J. Sawyer dies at 89 after long illness. Born Kate Wellington in New York City on May 8 1845 she moved to Acton in 1872 and leaves four sons and five daughters plus several grandchildren. Maynard Couple Marks 62nd Anniversary At Home

Mr and Mrs Alfred King of Maynard observed their 62nd wedding anniversary at a family gathering at their home. Both aged 80, they received recuerdos from seven children 23 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The seventh grandchild son was born to Walter's child at Emerson hospital. Born in Canada the Kings were wed in Greenfield Connecticut and have lived in Maynard over fifty years. Mrs King is a gold star mother and member of the Frank J. DeMare Post AL Auxiliary. Four Hurt in South Acton Crash

A sedan owned by Frank Strangio of Water Town crashed into a telephone pole on State Road in East Acton at about seven. Strangio and three passengers John Manori Sam Manori and Jerry Parenti all from Water Town were injured and treated at Emeraoa hospital in Concord. Leslie Pawson of Fairlawn A C Pawtucket won the six mile Maynard to Fort Pond race in 31 51 35, a new record, beating William Zepps’ three year old mark by four seconds. About 45 runners started at Memorial Park, with Pawson pulling away from Demster after the second mile and finishing a quarter mile ahead.
