West Concord Massachusetts Reform Prison inmates pulled onto the roof by a 50 foot rope in a late night bid for freedom. A 14 year old Richard Hanson spotted them from his home and alerted authorities. State and local police including Chief Kelley and Lt Geist negotiated their surrender from the fire department ladder. The five men were placed in detention as alarms brought rapid response from surrounding towns.

Rivers Adams 19, of Garfield road, also known as Concord James R. Adams, has been accepted at the U S Air Academy in Colorado. He is the eldest of seven children of Mr and Mrs Clement H Watson. The Concord High senior will graduate in June and has played on the football team. He previously lived in Pelham New York where he was junior class president and co captain elect of the 1954 eleven. Rivers took the Air Academy exam at Westover Field last March.
Concord churches marked the Feast of the Ascension with morning services at Our Lady Help of Christians Church and St Bernard's. Our Lady Help of Christians held masses at 7, 9, and 7:45 pm, while St Bernard's offered 6, 7, 8, and 9 am masses with an evening service at 6:30 pm.
The Concord board of selectmen releases the summer meeting dates on June 6 20 and 27 July 11 25 August 8 22 and September NN as scheduled official sessions.
Police will enforce sidewalk parking regulations across Concord. Chief Robert E. Kelley notes widespread abuse due to lack of curb and proper hard top sidewalks and says the crackdown will occur in all sections of town at all times.

At the West Concord P T A monthly meeting the 1955 1956 officers were elected with Carl Sproul as president and Mrs Russell Wheeler as vice president The program opened with a Harvey Wheeler School Junior Band concert directed by Vincent Giannini A manuscript handwriting panel explained Concords system and teaching units Demonstrations and displays followed A prize for attendance was won by Miss Elizabeth Gannon grade 3 parents A social hour closed the meeting marking the year end for the group
Concord junior prom at Hunt Memorial Gymnasium featured Janet Magoon chosen queen with Judy Lapham as senior attendant and several attendants from all classes. The event was marked by fine music pleasant weather and refreshments and a memorable evening for attendees.
Supt. Edward 5. Grennan prepares evidence to present to the grand jury on the attempted escape of five inmates last Thursday night. The five are to be charged with attempted escape. Next grand jury sitting expected Monday, June 6.
