Tragedy in Concord: Johnson Dies After Collision
A 21 year old Concord man, John Johnson, died after his car collided with a truck operated by Sydney Fuller ton on 1 Av South Lincoln Monday evening. He was formerly a Concord student and steamship worker and is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery after a funeral at the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Firemen from the central station quashed a grass fire on Fairhaven Road in Concord at 3 16 p m Monday. Officials said the blaze likely started by a passing locomotive spark and was contained before spreading.

Maynard Fire Dept Responds to Sudbury Brush Fire
Maynard firemen aided Sudbury volunteers in tackling a brush fire near Wayside Inn on a Sunday afternoon. While they were in Sudbury, a watchman on Nobscot hill spotted a separate blaze on Waltham Street and called Carlisle for help. Firefighters from Carlisle joined Maynard to bring the fires under control after the Sudbury shift returned, amid a season with more brush fires than usual.

Exhibition Has Two Fold Purpose
Maynard May 7 the exhibition of physical education in local schools will be held Friday May 2. It serves a double purpose to show progress and to raise funds for school playground improvements. Health Day Festival Held in Concord
A Child Health Day festival was held outdoors at Jamerson Playground in Concord with about 600 boys and girls from Jeter Bulke ey school participating. Mrs Kennedy led as girls physical director in Miss Ruth Edmons’ absence, while Mr Weygant directed boys activities. Students performed health related acts and exercises across grades, featuring a May Queen, cornet and drum performances, health plays, and rhythmic stunts under teacher supervision.

Marlboro firemen fought a 10 hour forest blaze near Marvard Fortude and a second fire at Marlboro Country spread across two and a half miles of woods. Gulf Tourney Postponed For Weekend Members Handicap Event
The Gulf Tournament committee postponed a three quarter handicapped round for members to Saturday and Sunday with a weekly member mandate. Tom Mahan of Waltham Club scored a snappy 76 and praised the Maynard course as first class and one of the sportiest he has played. A Sheridan-led two piece orchestra will play at a 2 pm dance and whist party at the lab house. Bridge will be on a spacious screened piazza and whist on the piazza will be announced when weather warms. Nearly every town and city in the area registered guests and many new members joined the club.
