Concord motorists are reminded that starting Thursday cars on highways without the official 1847 inspection sticker will be stopped by Registry inspectors. Rudolph F. King, registrar, warns failure to display the sticker may lead to court prosecution and possible loss of license and number plates. Cars lacking stickers and proving faulty may be ruled off the road on the spot.
A special observance at Wright Tavern in Monument Square is planned for next Wednesday. Lunches and teas will be served, celebrating the site first opened in 1947. E. V. Shaw will rent the managers for the coming season and oversee the popular eating house with H. Trumbull assisting.
Concord-Thomas H Edmards formerly of Concord now in Lincoln recently fell and broke an ankle bone. His foot is in a cast and he moves with crutches. He and Mrs Edmards are staying with Mrs Elizabeth F Howard on Concord road Lincoln.
Concord-Miss Joan Trumbull daughter of Mr and Mrs Franklin H Trumbull of Muskegon set a new ski record winning the Women's Downhill at Aspen Colorado sponsored by the Aspen Ski Club. Her time 2 minutes 24 seconds surpassed last year’s 2 minutes 31 seconds. She also placed second in the combination downhill and slalom. Trumbull a Vassar graduate served as a WAC in World War II in India and China attaining sergeant rank. Now runs The Sun Deck restaurant with a former schoolmate on a site overlooking 11,000 feet.
The Concord Board of Trade will host Mrs Marian Lyndon of Boston as guest speaker on Retailing and Merchandising after a 6 45 p m supper Monday May 5 in the Colonial Room at the Howard Johnson West Concord. President Robert D Parks will preside. This will be the final meeting before a summer recess.
At the last Board of Selectmen meeting in Concord the three members were named as special policemen for the coming year. Police Chief William G. Hn oversees the force. Rich H. Fiske of Prairie Street and another officer from Cordie Road were called for jury duty in Cambridge during the criminal session.
Concord Rotary members head to Marlboro Thursday night for the twenty fifth anniversary of the Rotary Club of Marlboro. The event at the town hall will be attended by past governors and officers. Dinner will be served at 6:30.
