Two Inmates Escape From Reformatory in West Concord
Two repeaters at the Massachusetts Reformatory escaped Saturday night by breaking a first floor farm dorm window with a smuggled tool. Joseph A. White of Wakefield and George E. Clark of Wendell, both trustees, disappeared after bed check around 10:15 p.m. Attempts to locate them spread across New England as footprints led from the reformatory barn to South Acton and West Acton. A stolen 1940 Ford, reported missing by Acton police, was linked but later unconfirmed.
