Concord reports three youths, two juveniles, arraigned in district court on operating a stolen car following a chase that ended when the vehicle was abandoned on Route 117 in Sudbury. The car stolen in Melrose three weeks earlier. Juveniles placed on one year probation. one youth bound over to grand jury. Troopers Raposa Maloney and O Donovan joined local police in the chase.
Sanford Edwardson recently returned to K. I. Bowyer Air Force Base Michigan after a 12 day furlough. He visited his parents Mr and Mrs Edwardson of 502 Main Street West Concord.
West Concord announces the engagement of Janet Tibbetts to David Woodruff. Janet teaches home economics and earned a Cornell master’s degree, while David, a Cornell hotel administration graduate and former Army member, works in Hartford at Travelers Insurance. The wedding is set for August 27.
The 1920 Concord High School class will hold a 40th reunion at the Colonial Inn on Saturday June 25. About 20 to 25 members are expected. John Mullaney serves as president and Mrs Earl Lamson as vice president.
The annual meeting of Concord Taxpayers Association will be held in the court room of the Town House Monday at 8 p.m. The president will preside and several new directors are to be elected to fill vacancies from resignations.
The district announces a new schedule for next year replacing Tuesday afternoon professional study time with after school planning. Elementary schools will operate full days except during two weeks of parent teacher conferences in Dec and Apr, when schools close at noon.
Carlisle clerk of the assessors announces the 1960 tax rate at 87 dollars, up 15 from last year, with a total valuation of 2,405,050 dollars. School rate stands at 54.81 per thousand and general at 32.19, reflecting regional appropriations and town expenses. Board members include Francis H. Dutton and Lawrence O. Sorli.
Concord Lions plan next Tuesday at Way Side Inn Sudbury installing new officers led by Everett L. Brought as president and John McGrath, Melrose, as district governor elect. About 100 members expected with George W. Wilkinson in charge. dancing by Ralph Thielen Orchestra to conclude the evening.
Concord Municipal Light Plant declined to amend rates after reviewing the 15 industrial customers. Only Nuclear Metals would pay more to CMLP than to Edison. Nuclear uses 600 KW monthly and General Radio 1100 KW. The board, at a regular meeting, voted to keep current rates.
The Middlesex School teacher Samuel Cutler and Patrick Conlon of 227 Main Street are listed for peddler licenses as the board plans a meeting with the Massachusetts Port Authority on July 11 or 25 or possibly July 14 15 18 regarding Hanscom Air Base land taking in the town East Quarter. The board also adopts a new jury list effective July 1 with copies to be available soon.
Newborns welcomed by local parents at Emerson Hospital include a daughter to Mr and Mrs George Gage of 5 Birch Drive a daughter to Mr and Mrs Richard Wilson of Arrowhead Road a son to Mr and Mrs Rexford Crowther of 62 Commonwealth Avenue and a daughter to Mr and Mrs Charles Stewart of Monument Street all born on June 13.

Nelson opened sub bids for Town House alterations with seven classes in painting acoustics bathing finishing plumbing heating and ventilating and electric No awards were made yet General bids were to be opened yesterday Pioneer Petroleum Products Company won the No 5 fuel oil bid at 24 per 42 gallon barrel for the year beginning July Texaco fuel will be used and Shanahan Trucking Inc handles hauling Ripley Willard Thoreau Alcott and regional high schools use the fuel
West Concord Condons maintain lead in West Concord Softball League as results roll in. Bedford beats Supermarket 6 4 while Condons defeat Scotts 5 0 and Middlesex Motor tops General Radio 13 9.
