Concord residents wish him a successful trip and he will contribute reports to the Concord Enterprise.
Concord mourns the sudden death of John A. Hutchinson born March 6 1872 at Wairhaven Hill. He spent over fifty years in Concord with a wife two sons and two daughters, respected foreman of 35 years to Charles Francis Adams and praised for loyalty and devotion to family friends and students. Funeral details to follow.
Charles Tolman Lieutenant Senior Grade U S Navy son of Mrs Charles E Tolman of 3 Academy Lane spends a month visiting his mother before reporting to Washington D C to assume new duties in naval operations. He has captained the submarine S30 at the Honolulu base and this is his first vacation in three years. Mrs Tolman returns from a three month stay in Honolulu where she accompanied the fleet.
Rev and Mrs George Loring Thurlow of Concord sail from New York on the Britannic for Southamption England for a two month tour of northern Europe. During Mr Thurlow's absence the pulpit will be supplied by ministers of Greater Boston.
Concord High School and Glee Club presented a fine concert in the school auditorium on May 28. Director Enos Held led an ensemble of students praised by Francis Findlay of the New England Conservatory for their disciplined playing and expressive baton work. Soloists Miss Joanna Ballou, Miss Mary Daniels, and Mr. Frederick R. Wheeler received enthusiastic applause for Bach Arioso Brahms Intermezzo Noturnes and Mendelssohn selections.
Fever pitch over the Street Frolic in the Concord community with events starting Saturday at 2 pm. Mrs Thomas Whit ney Surette wife of the musical lecturer and author died at her Lexington Road home in Concord after a brief illness on May 31. Born Ada Miles of Philadelphia she married in 1899 and lived in Concord except for brief periods in New York and Philadelphia. A Trinity church member she was known for warm friendship and active town interest. Private funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at her home with Rev Charles Russell Peck of Trinity Church officiating.
General Selrach Swen ruosiatesnosam, once a staff officer protecting Czar Nicholas II, spoke at the Concord Association recounting the 1917 upheaval. He described bolshevik advances, a palace escape to a stable, and sabotage in Petrograd later renamed Leningrad. After ten years he plans to settle permanently in Concord.
