West Concord Firemen Respond to 1166 Alarms This Year
Fire department records show West Concord firefighters responded to 1166 alarms this year. Two calls involved a car fire on Commonwealth Avenue where a woman motorist passed out, and another near a meat market where smoke caused a precautionary evacuation. An ambulance from Game 125 assisted in the incidents.
Lions Cookout Brings Out Local Members in Concord
Concord Lions held the season’s first cookout at George W. Wilkinson’s home on Main Street drawing about 60 members and guests. Everett L. Broughton led as new president after a swim party and steak dinner. organizers included Raymond Beatty and William Heiligmann. Evelyn Hart Sanborn 35 formerly of Concord Cresco Pa died in an electrical storm at Bremen Missouri while vacationing with family. Born May 14 1925 in Concord she was daughter of Frederick R Hart and Ada Butcher Hart. She studied at Concord High and Jackson College class of 1947. She is survived by husband Homer G III two sons Christopher 12 Anthony 7 a brother Frederick Jr Norwell. Funeral Friday at MacRae-Tunnicliffe Funeral Home at 2 PM with Rev Edwin B Nylen officiating burial in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

Fire and police rushed to Main Street last Thursday after a box 427 was sounded at 1 49 p m. The alarm proved false and a four year old boy admitted ringing it while perched on his tricycle.

Five Local Boys To Attend Scouts National Jubilee
Five local scouts will travel to the national jubilee encampment in Denver Colorado. Two boys from West Concord and three from Concord will join the Minute Man Council group at Camp Fellsland Andover then depart from Route 128 station. The 10 day event will host about 50 000 boys and resemble a large Colorado city during the jubilee.
