Veterans Administration to collect overpayments with hardship relief
The Veterans Administration announced plans to recover overpayments made to veterans in on the job training programs without causing hardship. Col Curtis Fi Nance said excess payments would be recouped from future benefits where possible, while others facing large lump sums will be offered installment options. Veterans say the sums, sometimes up to 450 dollars, burden families with wives and children and report confusion and coerced cashing of checks.
