Gove's bakery advertises New Year cakes and pastry with claims of satisfaction in taste flavor and purity. It promises fresh well baked goods superior to inferior options and notes higher quality pricing reflects better products.
Marlboro has not replied to scheduling efforts for a basketball series with Maynard and Saxonville. Saxonville will add Maley and Stuart to their lineup. Manager Ledgard complains of small guarantees and worries Marlboro will not fulfill a return game. Maynard fans expect their fast team to easily beat Marlboro if the series is arranged.
The Hudson division degree team conferred four degrees on a class of 20 candidates for Division 43 at a Masonic ball gathering. The visiting team received warm approval, followed by a collation and remarks from officials including County President Donnelley and President Lyons of Hudson division. Visitors hailed from Hudson Marlboro Division 44 Maynard Waltham Cambridge and Blackstone.
The National Home Journal's February issue features an excellent article by Miss Jennie Brooks about wool turning into cloth. Brooks studied Assabet mills and Maynard, portraying them in vivid, contemporary detail after living there last fall.

A fire sparked by an explosion in the paint shop at Baldwin Locomotive works destroyed a five story section in Philadelphia, causing about 1.09 million dollars in damage. The blaze left about 1600 workers affected yet will not halt overall production as other plant departments absorb the work.

Shepard named third carrier. Col. George H. Priest and Maj. James C. Smith visit Company 1 at Walden Street armory. Boston & Maine reduces passenger rates effective Feb 1, affecting most Concord single-ticket fares. The town’s center saw 16 degrees below zero. outlying districts reported lower. J. Alvord Rose, class of ’07 president, injured escaping a horse. Concord Golf Club elected officers: Grafton St. Abbott president, Alfred Rolfe vice president, Moses B. L. Bradford treasurer, Fred A. Tower secretary. George S. Keyes and John M. Eaton on the executive committee.
Notice from Concord relatives reports Stephen D. Hosmer aged 78 died in San Jose California on January 19. He was a Concord native who lived in California 50 years. Survived by sisters Adelaide O Hosmer Harriet M Phelps Concord Emma A Wright Lowell and brother Frederick Hosmer Natick. Body to be brought to Concord for interment. Washington report notes Senator Beyridge spoke on child labor bill with emphasis on congressional power to prohibit interstate commerce in child made goods.

Local trades expand as Blanchard Gould buys timber and a steam sawmill aims to cut a million feet.
