West Concord Church holds annual supper and meeting after weathered gathering. Rev Alfred Wheeler presided as resolutions praised Rev Dr Batt, D.D., and long service. reports showed active departments and near thousand-dollar union contributions.
Concord High School plans a Wednesday afternoon course on Mental Hygiene for the upcoming semester. Dr. Linwood Chase of the Boston University School of Education will lead the class with assistance from Drs. Myerson Thom and Bowman. Tentative arrangements require about twenty five applicants, and interested persons may call 941 M to express interest.
Concord chapter of the American Red Cross held a meeting at 7 Sudbury Road with Raymond Emerson presiding and voted to provide a Red Cross first aid course for firemen and policemen. The course will start next week with Dr. R Fulton Johnston as instructor.
A benefit whist event hosted by the Concord Chapter of the D A R at the Chapter House on Thursday January 29. Acton is in charge and Mrs Rolfe Bradbury of North Acton coordinates arranging tables and inquiries by telephone or mail.
The Concord Independents played a 1-1 hockey tie with the Lincoln Minute Boys on the Lexington Reservoir Sunday.

Officers elected and installed for General Ralph P. Hosmer Camp and Ladies Auxiliary in Veterans Building West Concord. Capt Herbert Berry resumes command after a lapse. Ante C. Lee of Barretts Mill becomes auxiliary president. John C. Anderson and James H. Tolman named senior and junior vice commanders. Installations conducted by Mrs Katherine O Keefe of Dorchester.

More than 300 men of the Holy Name Society received communion at masses held at J Bridget's church Sunday morning for the Feast of the Holy Name. In the afternoon a Maynard delegation of nearly 200 joined a union service at St Bernard's Church Concord with Maynard West Concord and Concord Holy Name Societies represented. Rev Joseph Mc Manus S J of Weston House of Study delivered the sermon.
Maymard The Windmills two act operetta presented Thursday and Friday nights at Rigekia theater by a junior high group. Elmer Selenius and Elva Nyholm featured with 35 Dutch chorus members and a school orchestra. Proceeds fund needed equipment. faculty members assisted in the success of the performance.
St Bernard's Catholic Church in Monument Square hosted a large Holy Name Society union service Sunday. Members from St. Bernard's in Concord and Our Lady Help of Christians West Concord joined St Bridget's and St Casimir's in Maynard for the feast of the Holy Name Jesus. Rev William H Finick led the service with Rev Joseph A McManus Sr delivering the sermon. Music was directed by Catherine M Hagerty with soloists James J Loughlin and Thomas Hayes. Benediction was given by Rev Dr Edward F Ryan.

American Legion Auxiliary of James J Mansfield Post hosted a Turkey Whist Party in Veterans Building on Friday evening drawing large attendance and great success financially and socially. Winners included Miss Winifred Higgins top prize and Mrs Fred Lawton second with Nan McDermott third. consolation refreshments were served and all proceeds went to the Welfare Fund.
The new fire whistle will blow two signals at 9 am and 9 pm with the 9 pm blast serving as a curfew. Alarm boxes are listed at multiple Acton locations including Quimby Square Main and Prospect Cartier Maple and Martin streets and others. Additional locations to be assigned later.
The Maynard Teachers' Club will conduct a bridge and whist party at the Auditorium on Tuesday January 27. The event invites members and guests for an evening of card games and social gathering.
The Concord Parent-Teacher Association will meet January 19 at 8 in the High School Auditorium. Dr. Abraham Myerson, noted psychologist and neurology professor, will discuss heredity and environment in a child’s life. Members use tickets or pay twenty five cents for admission. questions will follow.
The Progressive Temple Pythian Sisters installed new officers led by Isabell Kennedy as most excellent chief assisted by Ing Edwards senior Agnes Moor junior Laura Lent manager and Grage Spence treasurer among others. A past chief’s jewel and floor lamp were given to Mary Gilleney retiring chief, a gold coin to Jeannette Mackey and a bouquet to Isabell Kennedy. The ceremony closed with speeches and a buffet lunch supervised by Mrs. Gilleney.
Mrs Grace Flint hosted a small party on Stow Road in South Acton to surprise Mrs Emma H Capelle for her birthday. Guests enjoyed whist with awards for top and bottom scores, pink and white decor, dessert cakes with candles and fortunes, and small gifts including a floor lamp and plants.
Anna Noonan suffered a severe fall at her Church Street home but shows marked improvement in condition. Neighbors report she is receiving care and responding to treatment.

Four defendants including Edward J Flaherty of Maynard appeared in Middlesex County Court on secret indictments accusing conspiracy to steal property from Travelers Insurance Co American Employers Insurance Co and the Employers Liability Corp Limited. They pleaded not guilty and were held in $2000 bonds after bond filing. They left the courthouse together. The case relates to alleged auto claims of the insurance companies.
Mrs Catherine Donohue of Lingen Street died Saturday afternoon after a long illness. She was born in Ireland and lived in town over twenty years. Survived by two sons Joseph Done and Attorney Joan J Dononie and two daughters Mrs Joseph Kavanaugh and Mrs Leo Noone. Funeral Tuesday at St Brigid Church at 9 am with a high mass of requiem.
The Middlesex County Poultry Association will meet January 15 1931 at Acton Center Women’s Club Building starting 10:30 AM. Luncheon will be served at noon. Eben Wood Bridgewater will speak on “Senge in the Poultry Business” and Prof W C Sanctuary Massachusetts Agricultural College will discuss “Elementary Breeding.” Public invitation extended.

The annual meeting at St. George's church was held Saturday evening in Parish hall with a turkey supper prepared by the wives of the vestry. A resolution passed to not charge for use of the ditch for marriage or burial services. music would cost $1 to each chorister. Officers elected included Charles Edney, Frank Helland, Robert Poland, George Siswick, and Mae Waterhouse Swenson.
