Concord Civic pages note the annual hall of the local K of C at the parish hall Friday night. Police Chief Craig remains home with illness since Saturday. Dr F B Cheney prepares to move into a new Monument Street house. Carroll D Wright of Clark College spoke on The Public Conscience. Antiquarian Society members heard Thomas Todd on Looking for Antiques with illustrations from his experience. A whist party hosted by Mrs Frank B Foss yielded prizes for ladies and gentlemen. John M Keyes, chair of selectmen, attended a highway commission hearing on a Lincoln Concord Maynard Boston Stow and Lancaster petition for a state road along the Great Road between Fitchburg and Boston.
The speaker urges selecting only skilled physicians for eye illness warning against inexperienced oculists. He claims excellent results and abundant success in challenging cases and invites a conversation for troubled eyes.
The Maynard Poultry Show at Music Hall last week drew entrants from Worcester Leominster and Somerville. About 400 birds across 62 owners were on display with canaries pigeons mammoth turkeys and other exhibits. Winners included Blue Ribbon entries in Plymouth Rock Rhode Island Reds Leghorns Wyandottes and more with judges from Worcester and Leominster. The National Coal Tar Co disinfection kept the hall in pristine condition and organizers expect the event to become annual with growing interest and attendance.
A Juvenile Court day will be held at Potterhall New Century Building 117 Huntington Ave Boston on Saturday afternoon January 12 1907 at 230 oclock. Speakers include Joseph Lee president of the Massachusetts Civic League and Warren F Spaulding of the Massachusetts Prison Association discussing Juvenile Court Conditions. All interested are invited.
At the Trinitarian church Debating club session on Tuesday evening the topic was equal pay for women performing the same work as men. Miss Lillian B. McConnell Maud Hunt and Effie Lowden supported the affirmative while Cornelia Thorpe Henry Lawrence and R D Willard opposed. The vote favored the negative outcome. Middlesex Mutual Fire Insurance Company holds its annual meeting January twenty-eighth at eleven o'clock in Concord to elect three directors for three years and transact other business. Last week in Concord junction Guy Joy visited town. The Ladies Union met with Mrs. Walter A Wright at Main St at 2 pm Thursday. Mrs K A D Creney attended the Rebekah lodge officer installation in Melrose Wednesday night. Dr. Davis and Fréd Waite reported a 46 fish haul Monday forenoon. Meetings proceed nightly this week at Union church from 7 o'clock for about three quarters of an hour, except Saturday. A dance in Association hall Friday with Becker's orchestra of Fitchburg. Late return cars to Concord and Maynard. S. El Siglo at home for Christmas. he is a senior quarter master awaiting a mate's license. Large turnout at Sunday evening Union church service. Communion participants included Misses Rosa M Bowker, Grace Mason, Ethel Tallon, Mary Tallon, Gertrude Knowles, and Warren Hix, Harold and Ruth Shephard. Lord of Misrule carnival at 178 Commonwealth Ave featured Ada Chaplin's watch night party for children with costumes, a decorated supper room, bread and milk and tops as souvenirs. party deemed a great success.
