South Acton residents report social visits and routine travel. Rena Keyes visited friends in Acton while Hiram Livermore was described as a guppa vic tim at his West Street home. Several locals including Herbert L. Perry of Malden and Fred Clark working for the B& M railway at Ayer Junction are noted. The Concord high school enters vacation week, while Mrs. S A Clough travels to Concord Junction to stay with her daughter. The board of registrars met at the schoolhouse, adding one name to the voter list, and C S Perry returned home to Waterville after eye treatment in Boston.
A large group of 21 bobwhite quail was spotted crossing the road north of Mrs. Nagle’s house Saturday. The birds moved back and forth across the snowy Falkner hill, making a picturesque scene.
At meeting February 26 the South Acton Congregational church hosts an 8 p.m. gathering. Admission is small and O M s urge attendance. The cast includes Penelope Prim and Mrs George Hodgen with multiple performers. a sale of food and candy will be held during the entertainment.
Bedford Charles W Blake buys a Haverhill dry goods store and James Chase buys the Blake drug store. The town election is set for Monday March 5. Mrs George R Blinn named DA R Continental Congress delegate. Ice harvests report large yield despite higher costs. Car lisle fire department social and Minute Men play draw crowds. Snow storms increase road department workload. Mrs McGovern hosts guests. Winifred McNamara visits from West Somerville.
The annual town caucus Saturday renominated David C. Cutler by a large vote while Ran dall A. Whittier accepted the nomination for overseer of the poor. Other officers were returned. Michael F. Manning, postmaster, introduced a resolution endorsing President Wilson's stance on the international crisis, adopted unanimously. An advertisement lists Lexington theatre attractions in another column.
