The Maynard Hudson Street Railway Company invites customer criticisms of current service and asks for suggestions to increase value to the public. The notice, dated January 31 1917, is signed by D P Abercrombie Jr vice president and general manager in Greenfield Massachusetts.
Miss Maud Rockwood visited East Hampton. The Athletic association hosts a town hall dance on Feb 16. Concord Grange will work degrees on Feb 20. Concord high hockey hosts Brighton on Feb 17. Minute Men stage plays on Feb 15 and 16. Miss Florence Hubbard and Arthur God ing of West Acton are engaged. Charles Bulger named baseball captain. John Fallon manager. Community attends Carlisle Grange installation. Ernest Daniels dies in Boston. Woman’s Parish to meet Feb 19. I O O F plans card tournament soon. Miss Helen Towle visits Mt Holyoke. St Mark’s School loses to Middlesex 1–0. Capt Holmes keys strong defense. Concord Woman’s club meets Feb 26. Industrial and Social Conditions chaired by Mrs Cyrus B Adams.
In West Acton on Sunday Dr. Fred Pierce of Worcester was at home. Sixteen below zero was reported that morning. Emma J. Hart of Medford spent Sunday with J. S. Hoar. R. B. Moore took a short business trip to New York. James E. Richardson returned from the New England hospital. Angie H. Knowlton of Lowell visited George B. Parker’s home. Beverly of Waltham visited Mildred MacClenathan. D. H. Hall was ill with grippe in St Petersburg Florida. George M. Guilford of Boston spent Sunday with S. A. Guilford. Red Cross club sale proceeds totaled 12 dollars. Augusta Jewett visited Edgar Jewett. she has had whooping cough. Warrant articles must be submitted to the selectmen, town meeting set for March 5. J Katherine Richardson at Clinton hospital underwent gallstone surgery and is recovering well. Arthur T. Goding and Florence P. Hubbard of Concord received engagement cards.
Concord Junction notes report Roland Howe visiting relatives in Hopkinton and May Curley receiving care at Deaconess hospital. Ralph Howe bedridden with throat abscess while Harry Carroll recovers from surgery at Deaconess. A. P. Simpson to Waltham hospital for diphtheria care and Annie Leighton returning home after treatment. The bimonthly school vacation begins next week and Concord Minute Men plan a Thursday Friday play drawing local interest.
Friday night Family Night at the West Concord Woman's Club invites members families as guests. Program begins at 7 45 with a dramatic recital by Miss Ruth Garland. The event promises to be pleasant and will be held in I O O F hall.
Miss Ellie Petersen recovering from illness. Edna Hazeltine moved to Boston. Mrs. George Martin visited Somerville relatives. Parent-Teachers meeting held at 3 30 p m. Lexington theatre program advertised. Church supper at Congregational church drew a large crowd. St Bridget’s reunion planned for this evening in Lexington. Mr and Mrs Bagley hosted whist at Loomiset. Union school assembly discussed Red Cross work. EB J Godfrey returned to Bedford. Local Scout Robert Fryar pictured in Sunday Globe. Miss Anna M Bancroft spoke at First Parish church. Residents plan trip to Concord Migue Mencin Monument Hall four act play. Pomona Grange met. free lecture by Prof. Lewis J Johnson of Harvard.
