The Bedford Grange P of H No 283 held a social shower for Miss Helen F Blake with Paul Revere Chapter No 155 CBS and friends. Gifts included silver linen and cut glass. Grass Fire at Pepper Farm In Mid Winter Unusual
Fire crews fought a grass blaze Thursday at 4 PM on the Pepper Pard farm near Fletcher Corner, burning a three acre lot and threatening a barn they saved by holding the flames within six feet. The wind pushed the fire into nearby birch groves near the Acton line, prompting Acton firefighters to assist before the wind shifted and the blaze was controlled.

South Acton Native Reuben Reed Dies at 79
Reuben L Reed longtime South Acton resident died at his Martin Street home Saturday January 22 after a brief illness. Born April 26 1811 in Acton Centers he was active in town affairs as constable truant officer and advocate for animal welfare. He supported patriotic and historical causes and donated a colonial era relic gavels to societies. He is survived by his wife Mary A Symonds and two sons Fred W Reed and Albert J Reed with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
