Snow and Sleet Hamper Concord After Weekend Storm

A powerful snowstorm hit Concord last Saturday morning, dropping about eight inches. Sleet and near zero temperatures followed, delaying road work and making sidewalks hazardous until streets were cleared. The storm ended around noon with lighter snow on Sunday, and skating had been excellent beforehand.

Warren Thomson Powell 62, longtime Boston University professor of religious education and director of student counseling, died Saturday night at Emerson Hospital. A Delaware Ohio native, he studied at Ohio State and Harvard and authored works on church recreation and youth guidance.
