Warren Thomson Powell 62, longtime Boston University professor of religious education and director of student counseling, died Saturday night at Emerson Hospital. A Delaware Ohio native, he studied at Ohio State and Harvard and authored works on church recreation and youth guidance. He resided at 12 Independence Road and had lived in Concord before joining the faculty in 1929.

The obituary notes Malcolmson aged about 117 died at his home. He was born September 4 1808 in Hamgy and came to Concord 13 years ago. Services were at First Parish Unitarian Church with Rev. Alan Malcolmson officiating and cremation followed. burial planned at Sleepy Hollow. He left nephews and nieces and a stepsdaughter. his brother died recently in Canada and his wife Ada Cook Malcolmson had died four years earlier.
Last Friday brought frigid winds and a near record low as thermometers dipped to zero in most places and to as low as two to five below in outlying sections. The harsh conditions prompted heating requests and caution for outdoor activities.
