Acton Town Hall witnessed the establishment of a new Veteran of Foreign Wars post in December with the ceremony continuing on page 3. Local officials attended as veterans and residents welcomed the newly formed organization.
South Sudbury hosts the second annual Christmas pageant by Her Ford's school of the Wayside on a Saturday titled The Napa outdoors in Plazsik. A stable will hold black sheep used in pur sang. Miss Florence Fisher hosts at the Inn as soloist with Mary Lamb School girls as angels. Elaborate lights are planned and snow is hoped for by the Weatherman. Public invited.
A girls social dance proceeds to benefit the Athletic Association. Guest of honor is former field hockey coach Miss Ruth Finn, who left Maynard to teach in Stoneham. Mrs. Wilson and Miss Ethel Busterworth assist.
John E Laor ing past commander Walter Blod gett adjutant preside at an installation set for Thursday January 10 with a joint social hour and collation after ceremonies. Comrades Anthony Marshall and Franklin N Presscott are at Chelsea Soldiers Home hospital. Camp Auxiliary officers include President Mrs Mary Kelliher and several staffers. Past Department President Mrs O Keefe will conduct the installation. The Girls Friendly Society at St George church held a social Monday night and a vestry meeting followed.
George Dirga, 28, wanted for armed robbery by Brig depont Connecticut, was arrested on Main Street near Johnson Pharmacy by Patrolmen Henry Piecewicz and William Spratt. Jewelry and a sawed off shotgun were recovered in the room where he lodged, with rings watches and other items valued at substantial sums. State Detective O Neill and Bridgeport officials praised the local force for the arrest. Mrs Nellie Josephs, once engaged to Dirga, said the wedding was called off and rings were returned to police.

The Acton Woman's Club held its monthly meeting at the club house on Wednesday afternoon. An unusually interesting program by the Entertainment Committee, chaired by Mrs Charlies B Willett, featured Mr. Cutler of Groton who gave a talk and showed pictures of the old Middlesex Canal.
Maynard L D Wilson Chapter DeMolay held a Christmas party after an election naming Gf and Howard Weaving as officers with junior distributorship duties.
Over 260 children aged one to ten were immunized at the Diphtheria Clinic. Miss Mary Ward, public health nurse, oversaw sessions at Roosevelt Foster School from 9 to 10 15 am, Bancroft Street School from 10 30 to 11 am, and Main Street school at 11 30 am.
Maynard John Rouse 81 of Summer street died suddenly Thursday noon at the home of Mrs. Thomas Gately Great Road where he was visiting. He was born in Stow and had lived in Maynard since boyhood. A well known painter he is survived by two sisters Mrs Margaret Sweeney and Mrs Nellie Hannon and a brother William Rouse of Pepperell. Requiem Mass at St Bridget’s was celebrated by Rev John J McCarthy with bearers James Hart James Tobin John Maley Fred Wilder and Vincent Interment followed.
Maynard Christmastide will be ushered in with midnight masses in the upper and lower churches. A high mass is expected in the upper church with a Christmas sermon. A. A. Hi ferty will sing at the 10 30 mass.
