The American Legion Auxiliary James J. Mansfield Post 158 met in Veterans Hall on Tuesday evening. Officers elected include President Eugenie Marie Foss, Vice President Helen R. Byron, Treasurer Mary Tobin, Secretary Mary Tobin, Historian and Chaplain Alice Hagerty, Sergeant at Arms Catherine Gleason, Pianist Annie Catherine McGrath, Executive Committee Mary Flavin and Pauline Rodman.

Oil fire in Concord boiler room at Middlesex Motor Co

A pump feeding the oil burner failed last Tuesday causing oil to overflow on the cement floor. The resulting blaze in the fire proof boiler room produced intense heat briefly before Concord firemen from the opposite station prevented spread. It was the first Concord fire from oil burning heating apparatus.

Community Guests and Local Events Highlight Weekend

Maynard Mrs Harriet Wheeler of Wal tham visited Mr and Mrs Irvin Mowe as guests this week. Mrs Ada Hodges and Mrs Fri Jones saw The Messiah at Symphony Hall Boston Sunday afternoon. Abe Latin proprietor of the New Idea store spent the weekend with his wife visiting relatives in New London. Dr Nick Levizi who ferried William Creeley to Concord hospital after Thursday night’s accident said the trip took seven minutes in his Haynes touring car. Gant Denniston of Boston visited his parents Mr and Mrs Thomas Denniston for the weekend.

Mrs Thomas Carroll has been seriously ill at her Highland Street home for five weeks but is much improved and up about the house. Friends hope for a speedy recovery for the parents of High School pupils and expect a lively meeting. the club seeks new members and urges parents and friends to join.
