Maynard Dra Club Presents Fall Production
The Maynard Dramatic Club staged a three act mystery drama at Park Hall on Wednesday evening. The cast received hearty praise for their strong work led by Mrs. Martin as the cruel sister Victoria Van Bret and Huldah Nelson as Caroline Van Bret. Rita Foley impressed in her first Dra Club role as Anne the young bride. Henry Tatler led the male cast as Rip Van Winkle with solid supporting reveals. The production benefited from skilled staging and makeup with Doris Miller in charge of makeup and Sirkka handling costumes. Publicity was managed by Alric French and Mar MacKenzie, with Richard D. Eld and Helen Ketola promoting the show.

At a New York gathering of the T W U A unit 10 executives led by president Emil Bruno Rantane outlined an intensive membership drive. Maynard Textile representatives noted the union has more than doubled membership in recent years and plans to recruit textile workers nationwide, with about 1500 in the Maynard area already enrolled. John O Leary will head the drive locally. The union emphasizes mediation and avoids strikes as it works between workers and employers.

Maynard Man Enlists in Navy
Frank Mikolajczyk of 41 River Street Maynard reported Friday morning December 6 to the U S Navy Recruiting Station Boston for final examinations and met all enlistment requirements. He departed that afternoon for the U S Naval Training Station Newport Rhode Island for six weeks of recruit training before assignment to a ship or Navy trade school. Mikolajczyk is a graduate of Maynard High School and will report to Room 203 S Post Office Building Maynard for further processing.

Maynard Lodge to announce annual Christmas Basket Fund prizes
Maynard Lodge B P O E will announce the annual Christmas Basket Fund awards and regular monthly Smoker on Friday night December 13 at Parker Street hall. The main prize is a 1941 Plymouth Sedan. three $50 prizes and Smoker prizes including turkeys will also be awarded. Donations support food baskets for families in town, with distribution coordinated by the lodge, Town Welfare, and local groups.
