A hoax telephone message from Bedford spurred state and local police to search camps and nearby towns for 16 year old Walter Jones. The girl was found wandering at North Station in Boston and identified by a Peabody youth as Everett Condon. Police suspect no abduction in Bedford and believe she wandered from Boston Common to North Station.

Henry Francis Smith Dies In 96th Year
Concord memorial notes the peaceful death of Henry Francis Smith at his home in Concord in his 96th year after a long public and fraternal life. Born August 13, 1833 in Gloucester, he lived much of his life in Concord, married Hannah Lincoln in 1865, and leaves a large family. He held leadership roles in Masonic bodies, was a trustee of the Concord Free Public Library, and served in various civic and religious capacities. Funeral services at First Parish were attended by town officials and Masons. Burial followed at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
