The sixth annual Essex County Fair opened at the new Pair Grounds with demonstrations and tests for dairy oats fruits and crafts attracting over 5000 attendees. The 4 H Horse program featured 83 horses in a large presentation as Lt Governor presented awards to a 4 H Club boy and girl.
Bedford Sunday marked the 110th anniversary of the first Lexington to Boston train on the Lexington and West Cambridge Railroad. The line reached the Massachusetts Institution for Correction at West Concord in 1878 via Bedford, later extended to Lowell via Billerica. The Lowell Road reformatory branch was discontinued about 30 years ago. passenger service ended many years earlier. Buy U.S. Savings Bonds.
In Lawton Michigan a 15 month old child Kathy Stoker, who recently began walking, is already roller skating as her family, led by mother Mary Stoker, jokes about a merry chase with her two older sisters.
