Two-Car Crash Hurts Seven In Concord Area
Seven people were injured when a two car collision occurred in Concord. Robert C. Holman 38 of Norwood suffered a leg injury along with Richard P. Barrett 41 and Guy Hoyt 49 who sustained leg and head injuries respectively. Arthur F. McGowan 49 of Jamaica Plain had a cut forehead requiring stitches. His wife Elizabeth 42 and daughters Jean 19 and Mary Ellen 7 plus two others escaped serious harm with minor injuries. The crash happened as McGowan failed to stop at a red light and rear ended Holman’s car. All injured were taken to hospital. McGowan’s car was damaged and towed for repairs. Authorities from Concord and West Concord state police assisted at the scene. A possible complaint against McGowan was indicated.

Landmark Barn Demolished Near Walden Street
Landmark being torn down here as work began on the Hugh Cargill barn on Walden street. Harvey Building and Supplies of Chelmsford won the $1,695 bid with a September 4 completion deadline. The barn, once fire hazard, was voted for removal at the June town meeting. Hugh Cargill, Irish native, settled here mid 1800s and the farm later became town property.
