Washington trip winner Johnnie Dugan returns home

Johnnie Dugan of Front Street arrived home after a seven day sea and rail tour to Washington as one of three boys who won the Washington trip in Mikie enterprise circulation drive. He described an educational and recreational itinerary including Mt. Vernon and the Capitol view from 1200 feet aboard the Dorchester.

Concord Selectmen Open Public Sale of Two Lots of Land

The town authorizes the selectmen to sell by public auction two land parcels in Carlisle South. One lot about six acres around 300 feet along Carlisle street, bounded by Moran and Peterson properties. Scouts Pass Many Tests at Camp Barker Concord Lincoln

The Concord and Lincoln Boy Scouts from Camp Barker, Minute Man Council, earned honors in Council Court of Honor. Pythians Pilgrimage Planned for Boston Harbor Cruise

Mrs Hosmer Dies in Amesbury After Long Illness

Susan N. Hosmer widow of Augustine Hosmer died at her daughter Mrs Edward Woodward's home in Amesbury Mass on Tuesday August 21 1928 after months of declining health. She was born in Acton and lifelong resident of South Acton a Universalist and Magdalene Chapter 0 E S member. Funeral services were held August 24 at the Universalist church conducted by Rev Ralph A Barker and Rev Frank B Noyes. She leaves two daughters Mrs Cyrus Hosmer of Concord and Mrs Velma Woodward of Amesbury and eleven grandchildren. burial in the Woodiawa family plot.

Camp Spaulding Visit By King Foster And Gutteridge Jr

Mrs. Carrie King and her son Howard Albert Foster along with George Gutteridge Jr visited Camp Spaulding in Penacook New Hampshire over the weekend. F M Guifford of Hatfield has been appointed print bal of the Maynard High School. A 1920 graduate with two years wartime service he plans to move to Maynard to begin work. He holds ongoing studies toward a Masters and has prior teaching in New Hampshire Dennis Hatfield and at Harvard Summer School. Also named is Albert Lerger to head the history department. Lerger is a Dartmouth graduate and former high school football and basketball standout.
