A 4 mile stretch of state highway in the town is nearing completion with 2.5 miles opened to travel on Saturday. Thomas Lynchofn was the first to drive west over the new road as contractors from Perini and Inc. wrap up work. Ford funds the finished section, to become part of the state highway, with Boston road to Wayside Inn segment still under construction.

West Concord Library Moves to West Concord School Building
The Harvey Wheeler West Concord School Department expands to use two rooms in the West Concord School Building now housing the West Concord Branch of the Concord Free Public Library. The library will relocate to the assembly hall for now and renovations will finish within a week. A new Library Building is hoped to be ready in about a year.

Mark M Loftus of Belknap Street reached his ninety third birthday with friends and greetings. Born at sea August 15 1835 he moved to Concord in 1854 and remained. A carpenter by trade he retired years ago and formerly captained the Fire Department for eighteen years. He married Catherine Carroll in 1862. she died in 1912. He is proud of grandsons Dick Al and Fred and of son John Loftus a former Concord High School star.
