Concord Lodge No 1479 BPOE schedules its next meeting for Tuesday night August 26 at 8 o clock. Exalted Ruler James E O Neil will preside at the new Elks headquarters off Concord turnpike. Regular monthly meetings will resume in September.
Curtis Billings a 13 year old Lincoln youth afflicted with polio last month shows marked improvement. He may return home soon and hopes to resume schooling in September though only traces of the illness remain.
Superintendent Radcliffe Morrill announces resignations of two teachers in Concord. Johnson, longtime Harvey Wheeler eighth grade teacher and West Concord vice principal, is named elementary principal at East Lontown. Kane coaches cross country and assisted in other sports. Both will take new posts in September. Morrill plans to announce successors next week.
Closing exercises of the Concord summer playground classes take place today at 1 30 o clock on the Rideout Playground. Final exhibitions and displays will be held. Parents are urged to attend and see the good work by the youngsters. Recreation commission members and instructors will be on hand.
Concord council Knights of Columbus No 287 met at Monument Hall on Tuesday night with Leonard J. Wetherbee in charge as the new Grand Knight. Installation of the new slate of officers will occur next month and regular meetings will resume then.
Concord officials hold services for Samuel Hoar and approve memorial remarks. They note Lemuel Hoar’s lifelong town devotion and Hoar family tradition of public duty, citing his roles as selectman moderator and water commissioner and his enduring public spirit.
Concord school department repairs driveways and interior areas during the vacation. Radi hopes to announce a fall start next week and the new school personnel schedule for the 1952 year, opening September 3rd, should be ready soon.
The Ladies Altar Society of Our Lady of Christians church in West Concord will host a summer outdoor whist party and food sale at the rectory grounds 381 Main Street next Saturday. The food sale opens at 2 p.m. and the whist begins at 2 30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments served.
Concord Evangelical Free church announces Prof Paul Jewett is no longer connected with the church. Robert Carlson of West Concord is secretary and Mrs Alfred Davis of South Acton is clerk. Next Sunday at 7 30 p m Prof Glenn Barker of Gordon Divinity College will be the guest preacher.

A fire at the New Haven Railroad shed in West Concord broke out near 1 am Tuesday. The center alarm sounded and the Central Station responded. it was the 146th alarm of the year. The blaze confined to railroad ties used as the shed platform. damage was slight.
Mr and Mrs William A Massie longtime West Concord residents now of Laws Brook Road South Acton celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary at home The Penacook New Hampshire marriage began a life together with seven daughters one son and two great grandchildren The couple both in good health and past retirement in the printing department of the Massachusetts Reformatory prior to retirement.
The board of registrars added 112 new voters last Friday before the September primaries. Precinct tallies were 57 in Precinct 1, 17 in Precinct 2, and 38 in Precinct 3, bringing Concord’s total to 4,672, up from 4,503 at town meeting. A record high is anticipated after the primaries when registrations resume for the November election.
A union service will be held Sunday August 24 at 9 30 A M at Trinitarian Congregational Church. Rev Robert H Barber will preach with special music. The final union service for the towers groups will be August 31 with Barber’s sermon titled Facing the Music and Beth Killiam as soloist.
James E. O Neil announces Concord Lodge of Elks No 1479 field day at the Concord Rod and Gun Club grounds off Strawberry Hill road scheduled for Sunday September 21. Committee to be named soon and public invited.
West Concord Weltham police reported a Monday 5 30 PM two car collision at Summer and Lyman streets involving George D. Dixey of Brighton and Neile J. Wilgren of 20 Damon Street West Concord. Both cars were badly damaged.
Rev Edward Perry Daniels longtime Concord parishioner and former town official dies at home in Stow after Maine vacation. Town flag at half staff, burial in Sleepy Hollow, police direct funeral procession. Daniels, Harvard graduate and former Middlesex County assistant district attorney, led local legal and civic work.
