The yawl Osiris owned by the Macdonalds exploded 1:30 p m near Robinson's Hole on Naushon Pasque Island waterway. Dorothy 39 and Howard 50 Macdonalds survived. Dorothy injured by burns but not hospitalized. The yacht built 1937 designed by John Alden, owner Ridsdale Ellis New York attorney. Coast Guard sent planes and boats, Osiris burned and sank on a rock ledge.
The Concord school committee meets despite heat and vacation with members including Winthrop H. Lee and Dr. Angelo Giaudrone. They note increasing enrollment and aim to present plans at the March 1956 town meeting and may issue a printed fall report to citizens.

Concord resident John H Kennedy a painting contractor and merchant aged 23 is confined to Deaconess Hospital Boston recovering from a kidney stone operation. Rotary Club President he will be in hospital. Vice President Dr D Edward Cleary Jr will preside in his absence.
Judge David B. Williams of Concord will head a large Massachusetts delegation to the D A V national convention in Des Moines Iowa from August 14 to 20 Col Edward J Higgins of South Acton also plans to lead a chapter delegation and attend the event.
Local Catholic churches observe the Feast of the Assumption next Monday with Holy Day masses. St Bernard's offers 6 7 8 9 and 6 30 p m services while Our Lady Help of Christians offers 6 7 and 7 45 p m masses. Confessions scheduled Saturday. No fast or abstinence Sunday.
Local hospital notes listing new arrivals over the past week at Emerson Hospital in Concord. A daughter was born August 3 to Mr and Mrs Roger H Hatch of 2 Highland Street West Concord followed by a daughter August 4 to Mr and Mrs P R Kliskey of Oak Road. August 5 records E Bennett Beede and August 6 notes a daughter to Mr and Mrs Bradley Dewey of Simon Willard Road.
Concord building inspector H Whittemore Brown announces July permit totals of 369 185 for additions alterations and new structures with a 1215400 July 1954 comparison showing substantial activity at residences and nonresidences including homes shops and a church. The report lists many names and addresses reflecting extensive building in the area. A separate note states the Concord school committee will meet August 15 to plan the new school year.
West Concord police continue search for Leonard Wadsman 29 of Ayer and Walter J. Gustin 17 of Medford who fled from the Massachusetts Reformatory recreation period four weeks ago and one week respectively. Officials say Michaud 35 of Lawrence was captured five days after his escape. Gustin’s AWOL followed by weeks with no clues from staff and police.
The 23rd Infantry band sponsored by James J. Mansfield Post No 158 will give the first Nahant Beach concert Sunday afternoon. Lief F. Stensby of 3 Bedford Street is manager and Harry Nielsen of Bedford is director for the performances scheduled on August 21.
Among special police officers assisting the Concord police during the vacation season are James Alexander, Robert Learmonth, J Barrett Wood, C Edward Doyle, Thomas Prosper George W Carter William J Dolan.
Mr and Mrs William T Boland Jr of 7 Everett Street announce the birth of their third child and first daughter Mary Terese Boland born August 4 at Emerson Hospital. The mother is formerly Mary F Healy. Grandparents are Thomas J Healy Concord and William T Boland Portland Maine.
Bernard Kelley oldest of four children and son of Police Chief Robert E. Kelley of 37 Stow Street has shown marked improvement after a week of confinement at Emerson hospital and hopes to return home soon this week.
Concord announces the opening of local public schools on Wednesday September 7 at the usual hours. The high school will start then as well while private schools in Concord and Rose Hawthorne classes will begin later.
