West Acton James Grimes and son Albert spent the weekend in Stow. Miss Mildred McClenathan visited friends in Newton and enjoyed a two week vacation. Mrs. Lilla M. Dudley sent flowers to Boston. Miss Mary Armetrong attended the Richardson Ferguson event in Somerville. C H Fairbanks bought a 1916 Buick from C H Mead during the week. Rev C L Pierce returned from a week’s vacation at Five Islands. Mrs A B Parker and Alice Naomi returned from the Concord hospital. Mrs BE Stevens of Medford visited her parents S A Guilford. A nurse who cared for Reed returned home. Mr Real is improving. Mrs H H Gardner and Miss Sophia Taylor with Miss Sawyer left for a White Mountains trip.

Several Grangers attended Concord Grange garden show. residents plan visits to New York and Salisbury beach. The National band will hold a concert and dance at the Alia Temperance hall Saturday.

Ames estate lawn party attracts Bedford Equal Suffrage league

The Ames estate grounds on North rd will host a Saturday lawn party on August 21 from 3 to 6 pm. Attractions include auto rides pony cart rides music dancing bridge whist and refreshments. Speeches at 4:30 pm raise funds for Bedford Equal Suffrage league. Admission is free. rain postpones to the following Saturday.

Chicken thefts hit several towns including Burlington and Concord

Chicken thieves operate in Burlington, Billerica, and Concord, stealing hundreds of pullets. In one town about 250 pullets and nearly $200 in value were taken, with ongoing reports of similar losses across the area.
