Concord Tax Rate Drops $6.40 This Year
The Concord Board of Assessors report a tax rate of 29.60 and a fee of 6.40, the lowest since 1919, due to a $400,000 rise in town valuation and a $25,000 drop in the town grant. Total town valuation stands at 7,885,396 with real estate 6,631,391 and personal estate 1,254,005. The town grant is 266,405.06 and 1,858 taxpayers are assessed, 27 fewer than 1923.

The Division 56 Ancient Order of Hibernians event at Concord Playgrounds on August 1-2 opened with a Concord Tigers versus Union Club baseball game. William Swanton of Waltham formerly Maynard died suddenly Thursday morning at his home. He attended the Maynard versus Waltham game Wednesday night and was a devoted Maynard rooter. Relatives from Maynard attended the funeral Saturday morning. He is survived by a wife and two children. A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs James Dewire of Pascoag Rhode Island Thursday July 31 according to a dispatch to Mrs Dewire's father P J Sullivan.

Lake Boon Residents Push for New Town Status
Lake Boon residents urge Sudbury to form a new town by presenting a proposition to the Legislature. The Lake Boon Association held a meeting and appointed a committee to study proper procedures.
