Bedford man sought after Concord warrant vote

A warrant for a special town meeting in Concord lists eight articles including parking space purchases and funding for the Monu ment street bridge and Water and Sewer Department repairs. Police in Bedford seek James E. Carpenter, 29, after a traffic summons violation in Concord and alleged breaking and entering in Sudbury. he was tracked by state police through Waltham and Bedford before a lengthy search was halted. Carpenter is described as 5'8", 150 pounds, with brown clothing and a brown slouch hat, last seen after fleeing toward Cedarwood.

Final Exercises At Rideout Playground August 20

Final exercises mark a special playground closing day at Rideout Playground West Concord on Friday August 20. Six High School Athletes Enlist in Service

Concord reports six youths from Concord High School enlisted in the services. Bob Brooks is the only one called to duty in the U S Navy in Boston. Fenton Hanley and others await future calls as Brooks captained the 1946 cross country team and Steffanelli captained the 1947 baseball squad.

Walden Pond juvenile cases heard in Middlesex Court

Nine juvenile boys from Greater Boston appeared before Judge Pierre A. Northrup in Middlesex County Central District Court for disposition of Walden Pond related offenses. Three awaiting mental examination, four suspended for a year, and two placed on probation. Cambridge Taxi Driver Attacked and Robbed at Walden Pond

Cambridge taxi driver Sheldon Kane, 35, reported being assaulted and robbed of 75 dollars, a wrist watch, a rubber and fishing tackle by five youths while fishing on Walden Pond shores last Saturday evening. He described four youths pinning his legs and arms as the fifth rifled his belongings, leaving him semi conscious before escaping. Police patrols have been frequent at Walden Pond all summer as the investigation proceeds.
