The event at St Casimir’s church featured Annie Kppktie hite Ave becoming the McAllster of Hud ley with a ten o’clock mass led by Derek the pastor. Miss Helen Bigot rl of the area was described as one of the prettiest brides with many friends in attendance.
Fragmentary report from WIS Dive New Jersey dated August 3 notes Thomas i's serious illness after an unexpected collapse near Llewellyn Park. Later lines indicate he had a good night and is improving, with mentions of an inventor and outside bag teeters. The text is heavily garbled.
The Concord Rotary held a Thursday noon luncheon with President W presiding. Four visitors were entertained and an attendance list for Browns Rotary clubs was started. A telegram from Lexington Club noted Lexington in the contest. J Torseff spoke on the responsibility of Daddy and the meeting adjourned.
Mrs Horace W Fern of Elo Texas announces the engagement of her daughter Margaret to Edwin Joseph Allen son of Mr and Mrs George Allen of Mass Society. Miss Fern a Simmons College graduate and Allen a 1927 J M college alum is employed as an electrical engineer and the couple plans to marry in the Mass Society area.
The industrial exhibition and sale showcased women’s handiwork from the Lieweac Lodge country rest home in Bedford in aid of the Frances E. Willard Settlement of Boston. Antiques were included, with proceeds benefiting the Willard Settlement.
Special to Enterprise report from New York states Joan Murphy 28 a cook born in Manchester New Hampshire wed Catherine Foley 26 native of Concord at the Municipal Chapel. Murphy resides at 210 West 80th Street and Foley at 2728 Broadway New York. Plans were undisclosed.
Maynard Harry Harris of 4 Forrest Street Roxbury en route to Clinton clipped Raymond Coulter’s car on Sudbury Road. The pursuit ended in woods with a flat tire. Harris was found guilty of driving without a license in Concord district court and fined $10 plus restitution to Coulter for damages.
James J. Mansfield Post of the American Legion outlines plans for an Armistice Day ball at the State Armory. The event aims to be a regular annual observance with a schedule of festivities beginning in September and featuring veterans and community members.
Mrs Gladys Foye president formed a Ladies Day Baseball Club in West Concord to honor Fridays at Braves Field or Fenway Park. Assistant Mrs Fred Edwardson will provide full information to interested ladies in Concord 357 M. No clues available.
Waino Katvala drew a winning horse in the Irish Sweepstake and received a 4200 draft from the Bank of Ireland. He plans to send his mother a thousand dollars, take a vacation later in the year, and continue his job at the Firet National Cooperative Society milk plant.
Mrs Andrew Freeman of Fletcher Corner about 60 was hurt when a weaving car stopped to let her cross and was bumped by a second vehicle driven by George Berkland. Dr Raymond Hooper said she has abrasions and muscle injuries likely keeping her in bed. Berkland provided first aid and spoke to Patrolman Frank Downey.
Suburban shoppers will flock to Lowell on Friday and Saturday August 14 and 15 for the annual mid-summer Dollar Days. Chamber of Commerce merchants promote two days of special value with extended parking and signage across the district. A special 16 000 copy merchants bulletin will be mailed free to automobile owners as part of townwide advertising.
Ben Gruber supervises the Gruber Bros furniture store as prices hit twenty five year lows in a broad clearance sale. Manufacturers feel the impact of the low mood with drastic price cuts spreading from Maynard to nearby towns.
Cable reports the death of John Kimball Snyder in Freiburg Germany. Born February 1905 in Winterport Maine he was son of Rev John F Snyder and Lucy Kimball Snyder. He studied at Acton schools and College of the year before earning a Harvard Master’s degree 1908. He taught English at Wisconsin and Amherst, led European tours, edited books with Prof Beale, and is survived by his parents and a brother Roberto Sugot.
South Acton won 2 to 1 over Maynard Juniors at Community Field in a standout game. Tolman led South Acton with 12 strikeouts and two hits allowed, while Ruhowski of Maynard fanned 11 and gave up five hits. Tolman and Reynolds starred for South Acton. Ruhowski and Jackson shined for Maynard.
The 16th annual Sheehan reunion gathered in Acton Town Hall with members from Dorchester West Concord Maynard and beyond. President Mrs Julia Downey welcomed attendees while entertainment featured Miss Margaret Sheehan and Miss Alice Sheehan with piano solos by Mrs. Richard Whalen. Honorary members were named and John J. Sheehan of Providence elected president.
Mrs Hatfield Rut of 388 Lincoln Street was taken to Marlboro hospital after injuring her left hip when she slipped and fell at her home this morning.
Gol and Mrs Charles A Lindbergh landed at Aklovak at 3.05 am Pacific Standard Time after a 1100 mile nonstop flight from Baker's Lake during their Washington to Tokyo vacation. They crossed what aviators deem a dangerous leg of the journey.
Chieft Seneca W Hall reports police investigating a burglary at the Peakham Road residence of Mrs Lottie Sanders. The amount and value of stolen goods remain unknown as Mr and Mrs Bellinger and Mrs Sanders are away. Police pursue one or two suspects.
Isaac Langille of Lincoln wins the 200 yard offhand and sitting final, earning 94 points and the championship trophy for one year. CJ Donald takes Class B bronze with 86.62 average, while Ray Dolber and others post scores in the annual club rifle competition.
Marlboro police seek Young La Plante and a second inmate who fled after a 24 hour stay at the Shirley School for boys. Authorities warn surrounding towns to watch for them and plan to return them to the school. In Maynard, Bonislaw Gogolin of River Street was sentenced to three months in Bridgewater house of correction for illegal sale of liquor and appealed.
Northboro school board announced contracts for transporting pupils to the public school. The Ball Hill route goes to David Dvidian, the West district route to Carl Johnson, the Davis street route to John W. Allen, the Chapen route and West Main street to Alfred Pierce, with Jessie M. Potter serving as chairman.
Clement Al Maynard aged about 10? died from injuries after a Chevrolet coach skidded on Powder Mill road in a heavy rainstorm. He was taken to Emerson Hospital by a passing motorist, with passenger Harrington Harrington and driver Samuel Rogers injured. The car struck a tree near Old Mill Road as it sped from Concord to Maynard.
A local report describes Romany "Ladies" in a shop offering fortunes for 60 cents. A 4 dollar bill and a pocket book with cash were taken, leading to police involvement. Chief Seneca W. and a patrol member recovered Wilson's back. another incident followed with a man asked to hold a roll of money and make a wish.
Paul Byron of 93 Main Street returned Friday from the T C Camp at Ayer where he had been in training. He served in the Compaz ne Gun Company and qualified as a sharpshooter. He was recommended for a non commissioned officer in the regular army and the White Course for third year men by Captain Oliver of the Fifth Infantry.
An automobile driven by Sam Sexton and a milk truck driven by Hans Erickson collided at Acton and Nase streets around 5 AM Monday. Milk bottles were scattered on the road. both drivers escaped injury though Sexton’s car was badly damaged.
