Largest brown trout caught in state on opening day in Marlboro
Ardeen J. Schwartz Jr. of Wakefield hauled a 21 inch four pound brown trout from the Assabet River after a long tug of war near Hillside School. The catch drew 25 onlookers and featured two hooks in the fish’s mouth, evidence of a wily angler. Papa Schwartz, with 65 years of fishing, calls it the biggest brown trout seen in Massachusetts waters.
