Hearing Board of Health Delays Rendering Plant Permit
The Hearing Board of Health held a two hour meeting on the W M McDonald Company request for a slaughterhouse license at the Old Stow road site and a rendering plant permit in the lower town hall. About 25 attended. 61 remonstrants signed a petition. Supporters argued the plant would be modern, sanitary, and create up to 100 jobs. opponents feared lowered property values and nuisance. The board will decide later in the week and may not bring the issue to the June town meeting.
