Nudist Camp Rumor Stirs Local Residents

Staid residents reacted to reports that the Sunshine League plans to open a nudist camp near Sudbury Wayland in April. Board chairman Fairbanks and Harvey Shank denied confirmation while noting no word from officials and listing several wooded ponds as rumored sites.

Rector Lansdowne Named New St Georges Rector

Rev Lansdowne, born July 18 1887 in polis, educated in Chicago, will assume duties as rector of St Georges Maynard next Sunday April 15. He previously served at St James Fall River and led churches in Cambridge and North Billerica before missionary work in Alaska. He and his wife Helen G. have a family with connections to the George’s rectory.

Dr Currier Laid to Rest in South Acton Service

Last rites for Walter B. Currier postmaster of South Acton were held with private home services and a Masonic ceremony at the Congregational church. Attendees included relatives from Cleveland Exeter Winchester and Boston. Interment followed in the family plot at Newburyport.

Maynard appoints Edwin Carlton as probation officer

Edwin Carlton former Maynard selectman and sewer superintendent began duties as district court probation officer at Concord today. He succeeds John Dee who resigned for health reasons. Carlton served a decade as Maynard selectman and led the sewerage system project.

A large Galvin Transportation Co truck from Burlington Vermont crashed off Main Street near Kim Street after swerving to avoid another vehicle. Driver Thomas J. Concord resident A O Moreau a veteran blacksmith died at his home 42 Thoreau street after a two week illness born in L Islet Quebec on Aug 16 1862 he lived in Concord since age 17. Maynard Prue a 56 year old mechanic from Assabet mills died Sunday morning at his home after a brief illness. Born in North Brookfield he lived in Maynard more than 30 years leaving a wife Mary Madeline and son Kenneth plus four sisters and two brothers. Miss Abby P. Hosmer aged 93 longtime Concord resident and early friend of Louisa May Alcott died at her Lowell Road home. She taught school in youth, later tutored privately into old age, and was the last of a 10 child family. funeral was held today.
