Staid residents reacted to reports that the Sunshine League plans to open a nudist camp near Sudbury Wayland in April. Board chairman Fairbanks and Harvey Shank denied confirmation while noting no word from officials and listing several wooded ponds as rumored sites.
Rev Lansdowne, born July 18 1887 in polis, educated in Chicago, will assume duties as rector of St Georges Maynard next Sunday April 15. He previously served at St James Fall River and led churches in Cambridge and North Billerica before missionary work in Alaska. He and his wife Helen G. have a family with connections to the George’s rectory.
A crowded house saw a Joan Turner adaption of Mrs Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch by performers from the local school. Rita Foley starred as Mrs Wiggs with Lylli Terro Asia Doris Lesage Helen M Harriet M Karen Saarinen Marsden Bob and a large class cast raising funds for the Camp.
The Maynard Country Club opened its golf season today citing excellent course conditions. Helen Johnson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Oscar E B Johnson, will wed Elmer Brooks of North in Concord, with Miss Johnson a nurse and former Concord High School athlete.

Last rites for Walter B. Currier postmaster of South Acton were held with private home services and a Masonic ceremony at the Congregational church. Attendees included relatives from Cleveland Exeter Winchester and Boston. Interment followed in the family plot at Newburyport.
Edwin Carlton former Maynard selectman and sewer superintendent began duties as district court probation officer at Concord today. He succeeds John Dee who resigned for health reasons. Carlton served a decade as Maynard selectman and led the sewerage system project.

A large Galvin Transportation Co truck from Burlington Vermont crashed off Main Street near Kim Street after swerving to avoid another vehicle. Driver Thomas J. Concord resident A O Moreau a veteran blacksmith died at his home 42 Thoreau street after a two week illness born in L Islet Quebec on Aug 16 1862 he lived in Concord since age 17. He married twice first to Mary Ann Therien and later to Regina Hempfield who survives him. Surviving children include Louis J Moreau John F Moreau Leo Moreau and Arons Moreau plus daughters Mrs Hayes Mrs Antony and Mrs Ray

At a large and enthusiastic meeting at the South Acton Firehouse last week, Acton voters approved forming a twilight baseball league with four or more teams, to be called the Acton Town League. A Sunday team will play fast semi pro clubs on home grounds. A tennis court project and a girls basketball season wrap are noted, with committee plans led by Tolman and Foley.
Maynard Prue a 56 year old mechanic from Assabet mills died Sunday morning at his home after a brief illness. Born in North Brookfield he lived in Maynard more than 30 years leaving a wife Mary Madeline and son Kenneth plus four sisters and two brothers. A member of Maynard Council K of C and Maynard Country Club he enjoyed golf. Funeral services were held with a 9 am requiem mass at St Bridget church and burial at St Bridget cemetery with a church choir and local mourners attending.
The West Acton Woman's Club met at the clubhouse for its annual gathering and Executive Board meeting. Officers were changed including President Mrs Avis Howe and Vice President Mrs Bertha Montague with new roles for recording secretary Mrs Claire Good and treasurer Mrs Louise Clark among others.

Miss Abby P. Hosmer aged 93 longtime Concord resident and early friend of Louisa May Alcott died at her Lowell Road home. She taught school in youth, later tutored privately into old age, and was the last of a 10 child family. funeral was held today.
