Forest Fire Threatens Hundreds of Acres Near Nobscott
A massive forest fire near Nobscott burned about 600 acres of wood and brush from Henry 8 on Edmonds road to the Boston Post road. Fire units from Framingham Sudbury Newton and state warden Crowe fought the blaze for over five hours aided by 200 Boy Scouts and leaders under Chief Ranger D K Ingraham and deputy Edwards. The blaze scorched two log cabins and threatened several others but crews contained most of the damage.

An Easter pageant titled The Immortality of Love and Service was staged Easter Sunday at the Union Congregational church on the square. Prolocutors Roderick Macliver and George Elson led the program with high priest Robert Lester in Behold Thy King, assisted by George Weaving Howard King Harold Wilcox Alden Young George Gutteridge and Leon Frye. A junior choir directed by Ethel Carlson and featuring Beatrice Jordan Eleanor Jones and Francis Archer, with Wthel Carlson Amy Archer William Jones and George E Lawton in the hidden choir, contributed to the scenes The Darkest Hour and The Messiah Victorious. The City of God scene was prepared by H Augustine Smith and the Junior Department under Mrs Alice Murray. Cast members included Phillip Elson Isaiah and messengers Russel Jordan Murray Peppard Edward Allan Joseph White Robert McGarry Willis Lester John Fayton and Malcolm Trees. The pastor Rev. William Boicourt organized rehearsals and directed the pageant.

Marlboro Man Dies After Wild Truck Run Ends Crash
Telesphore Blanchette 44 of 58 Winthrop Street died at Marlboro Hospital within an hour and a half after a truck running in reverse from Prospect Hill crashed into George F. Bond’s market. Driver Henry Hartman, two passengers, and a freight shipment from Curran Joyce faced brake failures as the vehicle plowed down Main Street toward Lincoln and Liberty streets. Blanchette, struck at Main and Liberty, was found unconscious and later pronounced dead. Hartman was jailed.
