Fragments describe a peach ring cake recipe with ingredients like peaches, flour, spices, molasses, and zest. Directions include greasing a mold with lard, lining with peach slices, creaming fats with sugar, adding egg, sifting dry ingredients, adding hot water, folding in flour, filling mold, baking at 350 F for about 44 minutes, then cooling and unmolding.
The event drew about 79 alarms for grass at the Building and a large crowd attended. Leon and his committee ran the program with a local orchestra providing music. Proceeds supported the Firemen's Relief fund.
Tickets go on sale April 19 for a Patriot's Day Military Ball at the State Armory in Concord from 8 PM to midnight. Robert E. Sheehan serves as general chairman, with sponsorship by local veterans groups and a prominent orchestra providing music for the windup holiday event.
West Concord plans a degree session at Odd Fellows hall after the regular meeting and supper. Five candidates will receive the degree with Mrs. Perry presiding. Supper served 6:30 p.m. Reservations due by April 18. Invited guests include district deputy Mrs. Bragdon and other lodge members. A prior Neigh bor's Night program and a coot y party were noted at the last meeting.
Maynard Garden club met Monday afternoon at Miss Marion Townsend’s Lincoln Street home with Mrs. Howard Wilson presiding. Members shared bulb notes, Mrs. Mary Coughlin led the program, and a paper on fireplace construction by Mrs. Frank May was read. Mrs. Howard Case reviewed The Egg and I. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Harold Nicola’s Fletcher Corner on May 5.
Concord Lions Club heard Prof. James M. Austin of MIT discuss Weather Forecasting at the Tuesday meeting. President Leeman E. Haines presided, with Past President Othwell N. MacRae presenting the guest speaker.

Stow Harvey S. Croft 1st engineer Merchant Marines left Monday aboard the S S Bloomquist bound for Norfolk and France after a recent northern China trip. Mo ini tion of local illness includes Byron Woodman seriously ill at Marlboro hospital and Mrs Kenneth Wright in Lake Boon also in serious condition. A luncheon was served Tuesday at First Parish Unitarian by the Sewing Circle and a spring vacation for Stow and Gleasondale schools runs April 11 to 21. A Hale High School boys baseball uniforms fund drive raised 57 45 dollars at a town hall food sale with coffee served by Stow residents Do Stow Ruth Anderson Louise Leard and Virginia Batsford. The American Legion Auxiliary ham raffle was won by D Fletcher of Stow.
Miss Elaine Hamilton was released and went home Tuesday after treatment at Haynes Memorial Hospital.
Miss Angelina Mercury daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Mercury East Sudbury became the bride of Stanley Phippard son of Mrs Anna Ramstrom East Sudbury at St Anne's church Wayland. Vows were exchanged with a reception at Odd Fellows Hall and a weeklong Washington trip precedes their home on Sandham road East Sudbury.
Concord chapter of the DAR held a regular meeting at the Chapter House on Lexing ton road last Saturday afternoon. Regent Mrs. Hoyt Canary presided as guests Princess Metasonya Clear Sky and her husband Morning Star demonstrated native dances and Indian relics. Plans were announced for the National Convention in Washington, D. C. next month. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Howard, G. Simonds and committee.
