Concord Musical Club Hosts Music at Home Party

The Concord Musical Club met at Mrs. Samuel Hoar’s Great Meadow Road home. Performances included piano solos by Mrs. Gustav Breitzke and Mrs. Alfred M. Uhler, piano duets by Elizabeth Wood and Mrs. Samuel Merwin, a string trio with Marian Barker, Elizabeth Darling, and Westman, plus duets by Mrs. Seabury T. Short and Mrs. Ralph Hewitt and songs by Elsie Rose. Luncheon followed with hosts Mrs. Hoar and Mrs. Charles W. Cheney serving.

A 1775 Worcester printed narrative of the battles of Lexington and Concord, issued by the Provincial Congress of Massachusetts Bay, was bought by L C Harper for 535 dollars at a books sale by American Anderson Galleries.

The town hosts the Letter Club of New England annual dog trials from Friday April 18 through April 19 with four stakes for different dog ages. West Concord firefighters battling a brush fire at Powder Mill woods also responded to a garage fire on Old Hovard road. West Concord units, aided by Concord apparatus, quickly extinguished the blaze owned by Guy W. Bean with only slight damage.

Concord April 9 The Minute Man Junior Baseball League of junior high schools was organized for the third season by six towns Bedford Billerica Concord Lincoln Maynard and West Concord Harvey Wheeler school. Funeral at Concord for Henry M Whitney in Marlboro

Henry M Whitney 75 died suddenly at his Concord home. He served 34 years with the Concord road department, 28 as superintendent, retired a year ago. Survived by wife, nine children, 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral today at his home with burial in Sleepy Hollow cemetery.

The Minute Man Forest Wardens Protective Association held a meeting at the Central Fire Station in Concord on Tuesday evening. Col. Robert R. Goodwin chaired the gathering and plans were discussed for mutual aid during large brush fires, with the next meeting slated for October. Attendees included H. O. Cook Massachusetts state forester M.
