Mr and Mrs A 18 Holden Wood trustees announce a fund in memory of the child Oks. Alfred and Moreney have donated money to the cause. The gift aims to assist with the child s schooling and age suitable needs. An $800 sum will be added to the fund from the estate and other income sources.
A community blood drive will be hosted in Lincoln tomorrow to accommodate Concord residents. The event aims to boost local blood supplies and will run with support from the organizing body and volunteer co-chairs.
The Concord Chamber of Commerce civic committee led by Dr. Francis C. McDonald urges public participation in the 19th of April events. Activities include flying the 48 star American flag at homes and businesses and active spectator participation as ceremonies emphasize national freedom and historic recollections.
Patrolman Paul M. Sweeney rescued three boys ages six eight and 11 from an icy river off Sudbury road. He tossed a rope to the youths on an ice floe and pulled them to safety. Officials did not identify the children in the brief rescue.
West Concord resident Miss Elizabeth Rice of 370 Main Street, a UMass senior and Phi Kappa Phi member, has been elected associate member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Sigma Xi Society. Rice, a zoology major researching avian osteology, is a four year Dean’s List scholar and NSF summer research grant recipient in 1959. she is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent F. Rice.
State troopers arrested Robert L. Killam, 20, a hitchhiker from Maine, on Route 128 in Newton. He faced a parole violation felony charge and previous convictions for forging and breaking and entering. He appeared in New Maine district court yesterday. Police noted his long record.
The Massachusetts Port Authority responds to Concord board of selectmen about changes to Hanscom Field runways. Executive Director John F. O Halloran says the port aims to stay informed and align with the town’s concerns, with the letter forwarded to public relations chief Thomas Callaghan.

Concord Public Schools announce Marion Gorham appointed principal of Peter Bulkeley School for 1960 1961. She has 36 years in Concord schools, became assistant principal in 1951 and won a 1952 outstanding service award.
Concord schools join Lowell Technorama entries, about 41 schools in the area prepare displays at the Technorama and Lowell Technological Institute. California leads states with 6,150,000 autos and 1,136,000 trucks in registrations.
Concord town committee on public ceremonies will meet Tuesday to review the end of April celebrations. An open invitation is extended to interested individuals to attend and representatives are urged to be present at the session.
Concord attorneys Arthur Stevenson and Paul Farrell submitted a lengthy litter report after being named to an anti litter committee by selectmen last fall. Copies will go to the planning board and the board of appeals for their reaction.
Concord police chief Robert E. Kelley joined a highway safety panel in Boston sponsored by Boston Gas Company. Other participants included Bruce Campbell of the Massachusetts Safety Council and Boston newspaper representatives. They discussed safety methods and driving faults.
Concord Wednesday evening closes the 1959 1960 Alcott P T A year with science and air demonstrations prepared by Alcott staff and pupils. Four steering committee members to be elected include William Apthorp Elizabeth Brown Ralph Lamade and Dr Nunez. Miss Alice Sheehan nominated from teaching staff. Refreshments will be served.
The Concord Lions Club supper meeting is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Howard Johnson's. President Robert L. Carter will preside and the nominating committee led by Past President Stanley M. Howard will report along with the glaucoma clinic committee headed by Frederick R. Wheeler. Other committees due to report include Pancake breakfast chaired by Past President Charles Wear and Kenneth L. Creighton, glee club led by P.D. D. G. Rudolph W. Currier and circus led by Robert E. Sheehan.

Concord selectmen awarded two tax anticipation note issues of 100000 dollars each to Harvard Trust Company at 2.0346 percent and 2.146 percent bids from Second Bank and State Street Trust Company Merchants National Boston Safe Deposits and Trust Company and First National Bank Boston. Concord notes report the sophomore and freshman class party Saturday 8 to 11 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Concord reports two residents named to assist the effort for a constitutional convention. Harold Cabot, president of the League of Women Voters, and Paul G Counihan, a well known attorney, will help organize meetings this spring.
Miss Susan Noble a Bouve Boston School freshman in physical education at Tufts affiliated Bouve Medford is at vacation. She is daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles L J Noble of Lowell road.
Nelson announces annual appointments with several three year terms to April 1 1963 including Harding A Greene Allan J Fox and John Shaw on light board health board and public works board. One year re appointments include Police Chief Robert E Kelley Frank J Gower James E Finan Sr constables and other posts. Community leaders discuss remaining vacancies and possible reappointments across recreation and planning bodies.
Concord Chapter of DeMolay hosts its 113th anniversary meeting at the Masonic Temple on Friday April 8. Past master councilors are being contacted for attendance as seven aspirants will receive the initiatory degree. The next evening April 9 DeMolay boys and their girl friends will attend a swim night at Waltham Boys Club with departure planned for 7 30 from the lodge.
Concord selectmen and Supt John H Robinson of PWD along with town engineer David Perley met to review planimetric town maps. Air Survey Corp Arlington proposed $32 486 with other bids up to 100. Delivery expected in six to seven months. area to be flown in three weeks before leaves obscure photography.
Rotary heard a Pre 15 minute concert by high school band and a brief glee club performance directed by Elizabeth Gillette. Principal Morton Seavey arranged the program with Rotary’s Preston and District 791, in Marlborough for Dist Gov Ralph Anderson. The meeting included makeups and visiting Rotarians.
