Fragmentary text lists spring activities and community events. It mentions Easter funds success, April plans, a shop concert next Wednesday, a hospital publicity drive, and an antiques show set for April 22. Names and places are incomplete.
A list of students earned high honors and honors in the ceremony with names including Patricia Davis Tricia Lynch Arleen McLane Lorraine Patricia Keene Carol Aliskevicz Maureen Dee and others recognized for academic achievement across freshmen sophomores and juniors.
Concord high school held a two day science fair in the cafe teria with about 90 exhibitors. Top prizes donated by the Concord Lions Club and judges led by Vice- Principal Kenneth L Creighton. Mary Clahane won first prize for The Highest Fidelity, Joan Levinson took second for Steroids, and a trio Emmanuel Lamonakis David Fredenburgh and Thomas Diskin earned third for Wind Tunnel. First honorable mention went to Stephen Livernash for Sound and Music.
Manager Theodore M. Nelson reports that three or four bids have been received for a new town post and for which 10000 dollars was appropriated. Seven bidders submitted identical figures for the 1957 tar ring and it is expected Barrett and Trimount will share the work. Bids will reopen for 10 sirens for civil defense alarms with 4800 dollars appropriated and matching federal funds.
Nine Greater Boston area students from Concord Lexington and Weston will participate in Harvard Universitys summer program for the first time this year. The program will be taught by Harvard Graduate School of Education faculty from leading secondary schools. Transportation from Concord to Newton and back will be provided at no cost by a district bus driven by Concord staff. Notices go home to parents this week. Barbara Rittenhouse of Thoreau School Grade 3 will join the summer faculty.
The Concord board of appeals will hold a hearing at the Town House on Wednesday April 10 at 8 o'clock to act on several petitions including a fair May 25 for Trinity Episcopal Church on the grounds of Mr and Mrs Livingston Hall. Two other petitions seek permission to use the Middlesex School grounds for a dog show on June 15.
Dr Herbert Gezork president of Andover Newton Theological School spoke at First Parish Lincoln on his Russia travel and related topics. A supper was served at the parish house after the lecture. Gezork is a native of Germany and last year visited Russia.
A baby boy was born this week at Emerson Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ashly Pomeroy of 15 Grove Street on March 29. Earlier in the week Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jersen of 27 Belknap Street welcomed a son on March 28.
Bids for 125 parking meters to be re installed in Concord close Friday. On the same date bids end for a new pumper as West Concord plans to coordinate a larger free parking area with the meters.
Capt Thomas Tombeno leads Hanscom Air Force Base fire department trainees in a seven hour base course on aircraft fires rescue. Asst Chief James Gallagher and Asst Chief Kerrigan supervise indoctrination and flight deck rescue in jets and evacuation seats. Participants include Capt Tombeno and 14 fellow officers and privates.
The Concord Boy Scout Sponsors Inc. holds its annual meeting on Wednesday April 10 at 8:00 PM in the Peter Bulkeley room. All members are urged to attend.

The Concord Chamber of Commerce hosts a Dutch Treat supper at Howard Johnson's on Wednesday April 0 at 6 30 for members town committees civic groups and service organizations to discuss reformatory action and the proposal to move the new two million medium sent free prison out of Concord.
Concord Lions Club holds a regular meeting and supper on Tuesday April 9 at Howard Johnson's with President J Edward Holt presiding. Dr Maurice H Bigelow of Allied Chemical is guest speaker and Wendell Jones of Swampscott may attend as district governor candidate.
The Concord League of Women Voters will visit the School of Practical Politics on Tuesday April 9 and Friday April 12. Tuesday's topic is The Professional in Politics. Meetings take place at the League of Women Voters in Boston.
In March Concord issued nine building permits totaling $43,760 plus a $700,000 addition for General Radio Company at Baker Avenue. January had 10 permits totaling $34,800 and February nine permits for $43,760, with four new dwellings in March. Concord-John E. Nichols reports the town issued 21 permits in March totaling $808,560. The notable March addition boosts the month’s sum beyond the combined total of January and February.
Officials of New England Surveys Inc. report changes to town property values. Original valuation was $58,586,960, with 2568 changes totaling $732,710, reducing the figure to $57,890,920. Assessors’ office displays the revised numbers at the Town House.
Concord Boy Scouts Sponsors Inc officials announce record finances ahead of the annual meeting next Wednesday. Troop 31 is strong, Troop 49 re organized, Pack 49 is largest in New England, and a supply store at J P Nourse Store supports Scout activities.
