Southern Railway to Install Telephone Block System
Southern Railway plans to replace the telegraph block on the Atlanta division between Macon Georgia and Ooltewah Tennessee a 225 mile stretch with a two wire telephone block system. Each office will have bells for north and south blocks and the line can be cut through when a block office closes. The new system will also extend Florida traffic and share circuits with existing telegraph lines. It will start once changes are ready and earlier testing between Macon and Jesup proved satisfactory.
