Obituary of Samuel A Cunningham of East Tennessee
Samuel A Cunningham died at his home in Chattanooga on a Friday in March aged seven. He was the eldest son of Dr. Sam B Cunningham, first president of the East Tennessee and Virginia railroad, and married Mina Alice Nelson in 1860. He owned a Carter’s Depot flouring mill until 1876, later lived at Downshore, then Chattanooga, managed J O Aultmand & Co., and was senior in Cunningham & McPherson until 1908. He once served as county court judge in Carter County. The notice honors his upright life and broad circle of friends across East Tennessee.
