Death at De Leon Station Leaves Family in Grief
George Brantley 33 was found dead on the platform at M. E. & T. Railway Station De Leon at midnight Wednesday after arriving from Gustine and dining in town. He bought medicine, grew ill, and collapsed beside the platform trucks as night watchman Lee Sills observed. An inquest was held and Sheriff Gilbreath investigated. Brantley’s body identified near Wednesday. He leaves a wife and three children. interment was in Gustine Thursday.

Brown County voters will decide Monday on a bond issue to finance hard surfaced roads across the county. If approved, Highway No. 10 will be paved from the Comanche county line to the McCulloch line and the Southwest highway will reach the Coleman county line, increasing traffic through Comanche.

Ships Out Cattle From Clarence Albin Shipment
Clarence Albin shipped two cattle cars over the Frisco this week containing 49 cows with calves and four bulls. The herd was sold to G. E. Cowden of Buffdale. The cows and calves averaged 105 dollars each, and the total shipment brought Albin well over 5500 dollars.

Exhibits A Splendid Type Of African Goat
T. H. Luckie of Indian Mountain exhibited a record producing Mohair goat in Comanche. The yearling nannie had Mohair averaging 14 inches, touching ground in places, worth about 75 cents per pound. Shearing would yield at least 8 pounds, grossing around 5.60 dollars. Luckie runs 1100 goats on a 2750 acre ranch, with over 200 sheep, claiming goats are healthier and more profitable. Cold weather killed 300 of his nannies sheltered, and 100 unfledged in the open froze to death after a rain.

City considers $40,000 paving bonds plan October meeting
Petitions for a $40,000 bond issue to pave 30 blocks with macadam base and rock asphalt top are ready for circulation. Judge R A Luker says the city would pay one third of costs, property owners one third, cross streets fully by the city, and a 15 cent tax could cover bonds with possible savings lowering the maintenance tax. Front foot costs are about two dollars on 60 foot streets and one dollar on 30 foot streets.
