Walter Hardin of near Beard Church found a seven inch long molar in a Comanche street scene. The tooth likely came from a prehistoric animal with a jaw near six feet long. Hardin found it in Salt Branch and plans further searches for the rest of the remains.

Dr. P. G. Hayes returned from Fort Worth where he was examined and accepted into the army as a physician. He will serve in the reserve corps initially and may be called to regular service in about thirty days. Hayes is a leading local physician and is believed to be the first practicing doctor from the area to enlist. He will receive an appointment as First Lieutenant once conditions are met.
