Comanche County Fair Plans Big Pageant and Exhibits

County fair organizers announce a centennial pageant for Comanche County with guests of honor from early county days. A large bee and honey exhibit, poultry shows, club booth, and new cotton prize join plans for a spirited 1926 fair featuring a full entertainment program and a county horse cakewalk. Firemen, season tickets, and a Pecan Belt Highway meeting wrap the preparation.

Gustine Plans September 21 Tour for Gustine and Comanche County Fair

Gustine proposes an invitation tour for next Tuesday September 21 to promote the Gustine and Comanche County Fairs. The Comanche American Legion Band will join, with dinners en route and a noon picnic. A large Gustine delegation is expected and Comanche participants are encouraged to join for a day of band concerts and local welcomes.

Three Community Fairs Set in Comanche County

Comanche county hosts three fairs before the county event. Comyn on September 28 Gustine on October 1 and Sidney on October 2. Communities prepare exhibits to enter the county fair competition. Organizers invite all residents to attend and contribute.

Five County Schools Opened For Work On Monday

Five schools in the county opened for work last Monday. Three are independent: Co enendhe DeLeon and Comyn. The other two, Jakenamon and Robertson, are denominated common schools.

At a county Farm Bureau meeting last Saturday a cash prize of 10 dollars was announced for the best cotton sample grown in Gomancheom and shown at the county fair.

Comanche Indians Open 1926 Football Practice

Comanche football training for the 1926 season began last Friday with Principal John W. Cochran addressing the squad. Twelve players wore suits, with several returning lettermen listed among the veterans, and others attempting to win end positions as the team prepares to compete in Class A. A schedule to be announced within the week.

The coming district court session is projected as heavy with twenty five criminal cases including theft, burglary, and assault with intent to murder. Grand jury to be empaneled October 18 and trials October 25. Comanche to pave public square with Malvalde rock asphalt, costing about 10000. Hillhouse Trial Set For October In Fatal Shooting

J L Hillhouse of Hazeldetl county indicted for murder in the June 3 shooting of J M Kennedy. Kennedy died four days later. Trial scheduled for October in Hamilton County District Court, under law allowing trial where Kennedy died. Forrest McCutcheon of Fort Worth leads defense with assistant district attorney for North Texas.

Committee Orders Recount of August Primary Votes

The Democratic executive committee by agreement orders a recount of the August 28 primary ballots. A four member panel, two chosen by John R. Slaughter and two by Miss Clyde Coan, will review legality of votes. If they disagree, two alternates join. Slaughter and Avery Jenkins will assist. results to be presented to the committee with no court action. This marks Comanche’s first contested election since 1896.
