First Peanuts Marketed Here In Comanche County 1938
The first crop of 1938 peanuts in Comanche County was raised by Bill Vineyard of Sweetwater and sold to the Durham Pecan and Peanut Crop. Vineyard delivered 240 bushels at 75 cents per bushel, average yield about thirty bushels per acre, price slightly below last year. Walter Durham notes increased peanut acreage and a likely higher yield than last year. E N Kilgore and A C Kilgore of Sidney sold 500 bushels here and Vollie Loudermilk of Suez marketed his first 1938 peanut crop here Tuesday morning.
