Labor Day Traffic Deaths Predicted in Texas
The Texas Department of Public Safety estimates 45 deaths from traffic mishaps during the Labor Day weekend. DPS officials urge motorists to exercise caution as thousands travel the state. About 150 uniformed officers will supplement the highway patrol September 4 with daily death tallies to raise awareness. The effort includes the Texas Safety Assn and 12 000 Junior Chamber of Commerce members operating rest stops offering coffee to drivers.
