Miss Gladys Cox of Gustine and P. T. Smith of Carlton were married last Sunday after church services at Rev. J. D. Smoot’s home with Mr. Smart officiating. Cox worked at the Cash Store in Gustine. Smith is a Carlton farmer. Will Cox, her father, is a well known county figure. The Chief and many friends extend best wishes.

Stores to Close on Armistice Day Observance

Businesses and professional offices will close on November 11 to celebrate the World War end. Most open after 6 p m if they choose. The Legion asks shoppers to use November 10 for purchases and avoid opening on the 11th. A single 2 pm matinee and a second show at night are planned. restaurants and ginas will stay open as usual.

Armistice Day plans outlined by American Legion

The American Legion held a Sunday meeting and formed a committee to arrange Armistice Day activities in Comanche on November 11. The group secured business closures, a holiday for public schools, and a big afternoon football game with the Texas Motor Car Co. team. A parade of ex-soldiers is planned, uniforms encouraged, and a courthouse meeting set to finalize a program.

First Church Screen Show Delights Comanche Audience

At the Christian Church last Sunday night the first motion picture program drew a well filled house despite bad weather. Pastor C C Klingman spoke briefly on home as civil foundation, preparing for The Home-keeping of Jim shown in two reels. The event marked the church’s first moving picture program in Comanche and organizers promise ongoing weekly shows with music by Mrs. D Charels Clarke and others.
