CUNNINGHAM SPEAKS ON INTEREST AMENDMENT AT COMANCHE

L T Cunningham of the state department of education spoke to Comanche citizens at the courthouse Wednesday night about the proposed constitutional amendment. The measure would let counties and communities vote a tax of one dollar per hundred or fifty cents per hundred to fund local needs.

Jess Cuthbertson won four firsts and two seconds this year at the Dallas Fair, repeating his strong showing from 1915 and 1916. Grand Old Mother Nancy Hendrix Dies at 92

Mrs. Nancy Hendrix mother of Mrs. T. C. Baxter and grandmother of Hal Baxter and Mrs. T. P. Kelley died at 3 a m on Wednesday at Mrs. Kelley’s residence at age 92. Born in 1824 in Fairview Illinois she came to Texas as a young woman, spent life on the frontier, and left behind eight children, 59 grandchildren, 110 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. Her family notes five living generations and her Christian life was said to exemplify southern womanhood. Remains were shipped to Midlothian for burial Wednesday with W. G. Baxter and Mrs. Kelley.

George Montgomery sold two baby beef calves at 10 cents a pound to Swift in Ft Worth, netting 107 and 63 dollars with costs. He plans more profits from 100 head of black Manningley yearlings and the county’s cattle drew wide attention in the stock yards. A long obituary notes Mrs. Dudley’s death, praising her kindness and family losses and offering condolences to relatives.

Mrs Ed Dudley Dies at Democrat Home

Donna Dudley daughter of Joe Neely died at her Democrat home on Monday October 23 after a months illness. She was born 1876 in Neuburg and married 1896 to Ed Dudley. Survived by husband, parents, two brothers and six sisters. Service held Tuesday at 3 p.m. with Rev Curlee officiating.
