In Angleton Texas Governor Colquitt commuted Joe Durfee's death sentence for the murder of Mrs. J M Seitz of Post City. Durfee was lynched by a mob at a tree near Angleton after officers were overpowered. The crime, July 9, involved a mutilated body found in an alley and a suspect with a matching mouth cast.
