Community Farm Repair Shop Run by Sidney School Group
Farmers in Comanche County access a community repair shop at Sidney Consolidated School. Initiated by the Federal government, now a self supporting cooperative with 24 members and capacity for more. U S Sanders oversees the shop under the vocational agriculture department led by Supt. J B Cooper. The school also ran a government sponsored community canning center last summer serving about 150 families who produced over 3 000 cans. The local electric coop serves the area with 832 miles of line benefiting 18 383 members across six counties. Plans include extending service to a rural slaughter house in Harmony and expanding membership to about 4 500.

John W Bartlett and Mamie Boyd wed October 13 1895 in Alabama and moved to Texas in 1901. Ten children twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive.

Sam Seay Receives Discharge After 5 1/2 Years Service
Sam M. Seay of Sidney has been discharged from the Army Air Forces at Sheppard Field separation center after five and a half years. He served 16 months with the 65th AAF in the South West Pacific Area with the 100th Service Squadron, and trained at Brooks and Chanute. Seay was a Sidney High School graduate, son of E. C. Seay.

Comanche School Opens Lunch Room In High School Building
The Comanche district opens a new lunch room in the west end of the high school first floor with modern equipment at about 45000 dollars. It serves Ward, High, and Grammar students on a rotating schedule, offering a plated meal for 15 cents with 9 cents federal reimbursement and surplus farm commodities. Superintendent Winnie Coleman oversees meals, purchases, and menu balance. About 550 students dine daily with plans to add a Grammar School lunch room in 1946 47.

Penitentiary Sentence for Theft and Mixed Court Rulings
Howard Nunn received a two year sentence in the state penitentiary after pleading guilty to theft of more than $50. He allegedly stole a car in Comanche from Wayne Evridge, later recovered in San Angelo, while already serving another sentence. In Texas, Doyle Gillette was found not guilty of assault with attempted murder of Gracy Barrick. Scott Morean was convicted of turkey theft, given two days in jail plus $10 and costs. A divorce was granted for Donald McDonald.
