Soil Conservation District Forms in Leon County Area
Landowners in Fastland, Erath, Comanche and Frath counties formed the Upper Leon Soil Conservation District to access state and federal aid. The district covers about 1 025 920 acres and has five farmer supervisors led by Tom F Hughes. F P Mika will guide preliminary work from De Leon as plans proceed for field operations.

Market activity strong with buyers above normal and 1038 head receipts. Stocker and feeder classes led gains with steers up to 50 percent higher and heavy feeder heifers up one dollar. Slaughter cattle steady. cows and bulls varied by class. Representative sales include Sneed Evant 1180 lb wf bull at 30, Simpson Blanket 1230 lb blk cow 22.60, Nichols Bangs 1230 lb wf cow 28.2, and Miller De Leon 935 lb blk cow and calf at 294.
